Cavernous Cuts: Droppin this heat like an asteroid

I don’t often profile rap or hip hop on this blog. This is a serious error of mine, as I have been a fan of both for years and somehow my attempt to show off the rarest/best/weirdest stuff I own never leads me down the gangster path.

Today I try and rectify this with my early vote for album of the year by the unlikeliness of candidates: a  half white/half Native American former homeless skateboarder from Alabama.

Seriously.

Cavernous Cuts: And My Tapatio

I showed off some Janis Joplin a few posts ago, demonstrating her amazing control and power. Nobody is like Janis but some females do combine rock and vocals better than the rest of the pack, and newcomer Ida Maria is one of them. Her songs are ballsy and get in your face, or maybe your ear’s face instead.

I think the AC/DC crowd will find Maria’s backup band appealing, while casual fans of female badassery will also be pleased. But the men in the crowd might not enjoy this sultry Swede after hearing the following song…
